In the heart of Charente-Maritime, the Vignerons UNIRÉ from the Île de Ré cultivate a unique winemaking heritage, shaped by sea mist and sand. Founded in 1950, this island cooperative brings together passionate men and women who tend to an exceptional vineyard, stretching from the dunes of the wild coast to the fertile lands inland. A true guardian of Île de Ré traditions, the cooperative serves as a gathering place for all those who wish to discover the island’s authentic spirit, far beyond its famous beaches.
The spirit and the terroir
The Ré terroir presents a constant challenge that is met with skill: sandy soils, abundant sunshine, and that sea breeze that lends the wines their inimitable salty character. The winemakers’ philosophy is rooted in sustainable farming practices and a strong sense of community, aimed at preserving the fragile balance of the island’s ecosystem. Here, we produce crisp Charente regional wines, as well as the iconic Pineau des Charentes and Cognacs of great finesse, all marked by that distinctive oceanic character.
