Epicurean discovery

Hennessy has been producing exceptional cognacs since 1765. The house was founded by Richard Hennessy, who saw exceptional potential in Cognac eaux-de-vie. Richard Hennessy was an Irish officer in the service of the King of France, Louis XV. He settled in Charente in 1745. Twenty years later, he founded the Maison de Négoce Hennessy, which enjoyed unrivalled success. By 1860, a quarter of the cognacs exported came from Hennessy.

Over the years, the Hennessy brand became increasingly popular, particularly after the Prince of Wales, the future King George IV of England, became a great admirer in the 1800s. Hennessy continued to grow and prosper, passing from generation to generation of the Hennessy family.

In 1971, the House joined forces with Moët & Chandon champagnes to form the Moët Hennessy group. The group absorbed Christian Dior perfumes and then joined forces with Louis Vuitton in 1987. This marked the creation of LVMH, the world's leading luxury goods group.

Today, Hennessy produces exceptional cognacs such as Hennessy VS, Hennessy VSOP, Hennessy XO and Hennessy Paradis, as well as limited editions and collaborations with renowned artists and designers. Hennessy is also involved in various sustainability and social responsibility initiatives, including the preservation of biodiversity in the vineyards and support for local communities. Hennessy is a major player in the history of Cognac and is the undisputed market leader and the world's leading spirits brand. Hennessy cognac is an illustration of the French art of living.
