Epicurean discovery
Committed to a sustainable, agro-ecological approach for over 25 years, the Bonnie family's wines seek out the unique expression of each terroir, a subtle balance and great elegance. They are also keen to raise awareness of their approach and of this place steeped in history, which is also a reflection of its time. An agricultural area, a living place, where vines, woods and forests, animals and people flourish!
Acquired in 1997 by the inhabitants of Brussels, Alfred-Alexandre and Michèle Bonnie, who were passionate about the estate, Malartic quickly began its renaissance. The aim was to restore this sleeping beauty to its former glory by modernising the infrastructure, building a new winery and restoring the château. At the same time, the couple acquired some old plots, giving the vineyard a new dimension.
At the end of 2005, the Malartic vineyards expanded with the acquisition of neighbouring Château Gazin-Rocquencourt and the DiamAndes bodega in Argentina. These two prestigious vineyards were added to the Grand Cru Classé, creating a 200-hectare vineyard on both sides of the Atlantic that the Bonnie family and their respective teams actively manage.
Véronique and Jean-Jacques Bonnie, now co-owners of the family vineyards, are focusing on two major areas: adapting their vineyards to contemporary climatic, environmental and social issues. And making this enchanting place a living space open to visitors, where the experience, whether digital or on site, must be memorable.
The vineyard covers 73 hectares, including 7 hectares dedicated to white wine, with a variety of grape varieties including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for red wine, and Sauvignon and Sémillon for white wine.
Thanks to intra-vineyard management and a strong commitment to environmental development, vintage after vintage, Château Malartic-Lagravière has risen to the level of excellence it is aiming for, thanks to an approach to wine so precise it could be described as 'haute couture'.
Since their arrival at Château Malartic-Lagravière, the Bonnie family have worked passionately to bring out the very best in their wines. They and their teams are involved on a daily basis in implementing a global agro-ecological vision, with measured human intervention.
Château Malartic-Lagravière wines have been among the jewels in the Bordeaux crown for decades, distinguished by their depth, precision, balance and elegance. Harvest after harvest, the men and women of the Château passionately express the personality of an exceptional terroir.
